A Promise to My Father (USA, 2012, OF)

Documentary film with special guest Israel Arbeiter

In Spring 2012, American director Tim Gray (World War II Foundation) made a movie about the sufferings of the Holocaust survivor Israel Arbeiter. Born in 1925 in Plock, Poland, Arbeiter was deported to the labor camp Starachowice- Julag II and was held there until July 1944, followed by detention in Auschwitz and Stutthof.

In November 1944, he was transported to Hailfingen, later to Dautmergen and survived a death march towards Oberschwaben…

Parts of the movie were shot in collaboration with the concentration camp memorial site association Hailfingen/Tailfingen.

“A Promise to My Father“ premiered on January 27th, 2013, in Boston. For the German premiere, Israel Arbeiter now from Boston, USA, will be present at the Kino im Waldhorn.
