Pinter's Betrayal revolves around the adulterous love affair between Emma, Robert, and Jerry. The structural brilliance of the play tracks the triangle in reverse chronology and reveals as many mysteries as it solves. It allows us to see the many aspects of deception and yields questions about memory, blame, and who betrays whom. In the end, everyone is both victim and culprit in the complex mathematics of betrayal.
