Mit facebook teilen
Talk with Dr. Tristan Bassingthwaighte, Deep Space Ecology LLC. Mars is unknown territory for humans. What challenges and stressors can astronauts expect when they are sent on their irst mission to Mars? With six other scientists, Tristan Bassingthwaighte spent 365 days in a 110 square-meter dome on a mars-like barren mountaintop. The so called HI-SEAS project in Hawaii simulated the longest mission to Mars on U.S. soil. The project’s aim is a better understanding of the impact on well-being, handling stress and dealing with conlicts. Basically, living on limited resources, no physical contact with the outside world and only minimal digital contact with family & friends.
Tristan Bassingthwaighte will talk about the mission and his experience in the mock mars capsule. He is an architectural designer and space researcher currently working with Deep Space Ecology LLC.
