The story narrates how Bartleby starts his career as a scrivener in a Manhattan lawyer’s office. While at first he delivers extraordinary good work, Bartleby suddenly changes his opinion by saying “I would prefer not to” to any work that is given to him. His disintegration from society becomes unstoppable from that point on.

The US-American literature specialist and writer Carolyn Murphey Melchers will guide all book lovers through the second Friday evening of the month. Through reading and dissecting different genres and authors, participants will hopefully gain further insight into the “innard-workings” of our world.
