Three stories from the collection for this year’s Abitur Schwerpunktthema “One language, many voices” (George Orwell’s ‘Shooting an Elephant,’ Somerset Maugham’s ‘A Force of Circumstance’, and Hanif Kureishi’s ‘My Son the Fanatic’) will be closely scrutinized for their overt and hidden meanings.
