Short version with songs, performance and introduction into the art of quilting. Mit Barig Nalbantian, Penelope Pinson, Dieter Oelkrug und Helen Boeckh-McNeill, Tübingen. Returning at the request of many d.a.i. members, the warm and well-received presentation which opened the November quilt exhibit will be revived on the d.a.i. stage. Helen Boeckh-McNeill will set the scene with a short version of her talk on the historical background of quilting. Barig Nalbantian, soprano, and Penelope Pinson, former modern dancer, will then take the stage. Their dramatization of four songs and stories (adapted from the Tony-award winning musical “Quilters” by Polly Newman and Barbara Damashek) is a moving portrayal of the joys and hardships of early American pioneer women. Pianist Dieter Oelkrug will also return to accompany the performance. Experience US American history through art!
